Raising Chickens can be a bit tricky. We purchased our first batch of chicks about 5 years ago. After receiving them in the mail, we set to work trying to keep them alive. We soon found that chickens in the house can get kind of smelly, but it was winter time and we didn’t want to lose any of them. Not really knowing what we were doing, I felt they were safer right under my nose in a warm house than somewhere outside or in the barn. Since that time we have ordered hundreds of chicks and raised them to maturity (none of them in the house!) Some have been meat birds, some dual purpose, and some layers.
We’ve also learned a lot along the way. This “How To Raise Chickens” video will help you raise chicks at home in the city or out in the country.
